News – Help to Buy Mortgage Guarantee Scheme ended December 2016

The Help to Buy Mortgage Guarantee scheme ended in December 2016. This scheme enabled purchasers to buy a new or ‘second hand’ property with a 5% deposit by getting a 95% mortgage from a high-street lender. The Government then guarantee 15% of the mortgage.

The Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme, which enables purchasers to buy a new-build property with a 5% deposit and borrowing 20% of the properties value from the Government as an equity loan is due to run until 2021.
